What grinder servicing actually involves
Burrs are consumable and wear with total volume ground, not just age — a high-volume site can wear through a set faster than the calendar would suggest, and worn burrs show up as inconsistent particle size, more fines and shots that taste muddier even when nothing else has changed. A service covers burr condition and wear, dosing accuracy (checked against an actual scale, not judged by taste), motor and bearing condition, and a proper clean-down of the hopper and chute.
Grinders are serviced less often than espresso machines in a lot of cafés, simply because a slowly drifting grind is easier to miss day to day. Our service packages build grinder checks into every planned visit as standard, not as an optional extra.
